knee Pain

Understanding Knee Pain

Knee pain is a common complaint that can affect people of all ages. It may result from injury, overuse, arthritis, or underlying mechanical issues in the joint. At SpineLUX Pain & Ortho, our team specializes in identifying the source of your knee pain and providing personalized, evidence-based care to restore your mobility and reduce pain.

Causes and Symptoms

Common causes of knee pain include:

  • Ligament injuries (ACL, MCL, PCL, LCL)
  • Meniscus tears
  • Patellar tendinitis (jumper’s knee)
  • Osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis
  • Bursitis
  • Cartilage damage or degeneration
  • veruse or repetitive strain
  • Fractures or dislocations

Typical symptoms include:

  • Pain during walking, bending, or climbing stairs

  • Swelling or stiffness around the joint

  • Clicking, popping, or catching sensations

  • Instability or a feeling of the knee “giving out”

  • Reduced range of motion

  • Weakness or difficulty bearing weight

How Knee Pain Is Diagnosed

At SpineLUX, we use a combination of clinical evaluation and imaging to determine the exact cause of your knee pain:

  • Physical exam: Evaluating stability, swelling, tenderness, and movement

  • Medical history: Assessing injury history, activity level, and past conditions

  • Imaging tests:

    • X-rays to assess bone alignment and signs of arthritis

    • MRI for soft tissue structures like ligaments, cartilage, and meniscus

    • Ultrasound for real-time assessment of tendons and fluid buildup

  • Joint aspiration (if needed): To test fluid for signs of infection or inflammation

Treatment Options for Knee Pain

Conservative Treatments (Non-Surgical) Care

  • Physical therapy focused on strengthening and improving flexibility

  • NSAIDs and anti-inflammatory medication

  • Weight management for joint unloading

  • Bracing or supportive taping for stability

  • Activity modification and rest

  • Corticosteroid injections for temporary inflammation relief

Interventional & Surgical Treatments

Corticosteroid Injections

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Corticosteroid Injections

Injected directly into the knee joint to reduce inflammation and provide fast pain relief, especially in cases of arthritis or bursitis.

Viscosupplementation

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Corticosteroid Injections

Injects gel-like fluid into the joint to improve lubrication and reduce pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

Uses a concentration of your own platelets to promote healing in soft tissue injuries, such as ligament sprains or meniscus tears.

Knee Arthroscopy

Ligament Reconstruction Surgery (ACL/PCL)

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy

A minimally invasive surgical procedure that allows the surgeon to view and repair damage inside the knee joint using a small camera.

Ligament Reconstruction Surgery (ACL/PCL)

Ligament Reconstruction Surgery (ACL/PCL)

Ligament Reconstruction Surgery (ACL/PCL)

Rebuilds torn ligaments using graft tissue to restore stability, especially in active individuals and athletes.

Partial or Total Knee Replacement

Ligament Reconstruction Surgery (ACL/PCL)

Ligament Reconstruction Surgery (ACL/PCL)

Recovery may include:

  • Structured physical therapy to rebuild strength and flexibility
